A Puna woman is in police custody after being charged with three offenses in connection with a confrontation in August.
On Aug. 25, Puna patrol officers responded to a report of an affray in progress at a business at 15-2670 Keaau-Pahoa Road in Pahoa, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
A 21-year-old woman reported that an acquaintance had jumped her at her place of business, thrown her to the floor, pulled and cut her hair, nicked her arm with scissors, and threatened further harm. The assailant then fled on foot with the victim’s cell phone.
Police were unable to locate the suspect until Thursday morning, when they arrested her in Pahoa. Taniamae Faris, 29, of Pahoa was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.
At 1:45 p.m. Friday, detectives charged her with second-degree robbery, third-degree assault and first-degree terroristic threatening. Her bail was set at $37,000. She remains at the cellblock pending her initial court appearance scheduled for Monday.
