Glen Anderson

Glen Theril Anderson, 75, of Hawaiian Paradise Park died Sept. 21, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Oakland, Calif., he was a former vocational counselor and an inventor.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 23 at Alae Cemetery in Hilo.

He is survived by wife, June Anderson; son, Tod Anderson; daughter, Tia St. Cyr; and three grandchildren.

Andrea Pellicano

Andrea Marie Pellicano, 47, of Waimea died Sept. 20, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 12, 1966, in Chicago, was a property manager.

Private services will be held.

She is survived by daughter, Alyssa Heenan of Waimea; parents, Catherine and Don Dippolito of Orland Park, Ill.; grandmother, Madelyn Podrazik of Chicago; brothers, Alex (Darcy) Pellicano of Lisle, Ill., Donald Dippolito Jr. of Chicago; sister, Antoinette Nunez of Hammond, Ind.; one grandchild; three nephews and three nieces.

Juan Rivera

Juan “Johnny” Sagap Rivera, 84, of Waimea died Sept. 2, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born March 7, 1930, in Zapat, Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired utility truck driver for Hamakua Sugar Plantation Co. and a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea.

Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m Sept. 25 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea for a 7:30 p.m. service. Friends may call again from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Annunciation Catholic Church for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Annunciation Catholic Church Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Margarita Rivera of Waimea; daughters, Myrna Rivera-Baptista of Pepeekeo, Edith (Sheldon) Rivera-Sleightholm of Waimea; sister, Matilde Rivera Ibe of Philippines; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert Herkes

Robert Neil “Bob” Herkes, 83, of Volcano died Aug. 21, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 24, 1931, in Iloilo, Philippine Islands, he was a former hotel executive with Inter-Island Resorts. He served on the Hawaii County Council, State Senate, and State House.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Aloha attire is requested.

He is survived by wife, Jo-Anna Herkes of Volcano; sons, Robert (Lynn) Herkes of Waimea, Ken (Beverly) Herkes of Florida, and Doug (Ann Cobb) Herkes of Waikoloa; brother, John (Sharon) Herkes of Moscow, Idaho; sister, Jana Herkes of Lihue; granddaughter, Sara Herkes of Colo.; numerous nephews, nieces, and a cousin.

Jonah Kelekolio

Jonah Umauma Puhipau Kelekolio, 39, of Hilo died Sept. 1, 2014, at Maui Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 1, 1974, in Hilo, he was a lead kitchen utility worker for Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus, a former cook at Seaside Restaurant, a former security guard at H.S.I., a former haku apprentice with Alu Like’s Youth Offender Project and a cook at the former Woolworth’s Restaurant in Hilo. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward and an alii with the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, heiau o Mamalahoa.

Friends may call from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 27 at the LDS Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Ave. for an 11 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Family requests aloha attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Denise Kelekolio of Keaukaha; sons, Keikialiimahieakumukahi Kelekolio, Luhiehukawenaokahailimoe Kelekolio, both of Keaukaha; mother, Joyce Kelekolio of Panaewa; brothers, Louis Jr. (Ilka) Kelekolio of Hilo, David (Chelle) Kelekolio of Keaukaha, Stanley Kelekolio of Panaewa; sister, Dawnaree (Bob) Arnold of Paauilo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane Udo

Jane Shizuko Udo, 84, of Pepeekeo died Sept. 3, 2014, at home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired office manager with the Hamakua Coast Federal Credit Union. She was also a member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ.

Private services were held. The family requests that monetary donations be omitted.

She is survived by sons, Gaylen (Teresa) Udo of Ferndale, Wash., Daynor Udo of Pepeekeo; daughter, Vanessa (Calvin) Unoki of Pepeekeo; brother, Van Dale (Jean) Furusho of Okinawa; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Tsuneo Mikaru

Tsuneo Mikaru, 93, of Hawi died Sept. 15, 2014, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Halaula, he was a retired painting contractor, he worked at the former Kohala Sugar Co. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

No services will be held. Ashes will be scattered at a later date.

He is survived by sister, Geraldine Nagahisa of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.
