Where are the war protesters?
I have a question. Where are Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink and all the antiwar protestors who used to line Queen Kaahumanu Highway, waving their signs condemning President George W. Bush when he invaded Iraq? Do they now support an invasion of Syria simply because it’s Barack Obama? I wouldn’t have stood with them then, I would now.
For more than 60 years, America’s position has been “arm the moderates” against factions we deem dangerous to American interests in the Middle East. Folks, I got news for you, there are no Arab moderates. We installed the Shah of Iran in 1953. He so brutalized that country that the seeds of al-Qaida were sown. It sparked such an eternal hatred toward the West that it brought to power Osama bin Laden and the attacks of 9/11.
Now we are about to embark on a limited incursion into Syria where we only provide air support and advisers. I’m surprised the president didn’t call it a “police action.” This smacks of Vietnam all over.
What’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.
It is time to cut the Middle East loose. Protect Israel (our only real friends in the Middle East) and leave the Arabs to their own devices. And when they do come here or attack Israel, nuke them back to the Stone Age.
We’ve tried to win them over for more than half a century. The fact is, Islam will never rest until we are all Muslims.
I stood at the Vietnam Memorial and cried because every name on that wall died for no reason. The same is true for all the soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq. We accomplished nothing. We’ve only made it worse. I truly can’t believe we’re going to do it again.
