Construction is underway at Keauhou Small Boat Harbor, where crews started repair work to the last remaining areas damaged by the March 2011 tsunami.
Construction of this $428,000 project is scheduled through Jan. 7, according to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
During the first phase, project contractor Drayko Construction Inc. will remove existing asphalt and install concrete pavement and drainage improvements on the mauka side of the boat launch ramp and wash down area. During this time, the trailer parking next to the boat ramp and the boat wash down area will be closed. Both lanes of the boat ramp will remain open.
Beginning next month, repairs will be made to the rock revetment, loading dock, fenders and cleats on the left side of the boat ramp. Crews will also remove existing asphalt and install concrete pavement fronting the left side of the boat ramp. The left lane of the boat ramp will be closed. The right lane of the boat ramp will remain open.
In November, removal and replacement of existing asphalt on the mauka parking, bulkhead area, will take place, as well as striping. Vessels may use the loading pier to load and unload passengers during this time.
The final phase, scheduled to last from Dec. 4 to Jan. 2, includes the removal of asphalt paving and installation of concrete pavement fronting the right side of boat ramp. The right side of the boat ramp will be closed. The left lane will remain open.
