He is survived by sisters, Marian (Henry) Hamada of Kauai, Doris Kimura of Hilo; uncles, Yoshito Nishioka of Mililani, Oahu, and Russell Brunk of Maryland; aunts Carolyn Saito of Aiea, Oahu, and Chiharu Sasaki of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Federico Salvador Rivera, 69, of Kapaau died Aug. 1, 2014, at his residence. Born June 9, 1945, in Nueva Ecija, Philippines, he was a paniolo and retired as a ranch maintenance man for Boteilho Enterprises.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 30 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Hawi for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will be at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Oahu. The family requests casual attire worn be worn.
He is survived by wife, Gaudelia Rivera; son, Fernando (Ofelia Pagala) Rivera, both of Kapaau; daughters, Gemma (Thomas) Lau and Gladis (Bryan) Simpson, both of Oahu; mother, Florentina Rivera of the Philippines; brother, Aniceto (Estelita) Rivera of the Philippines; sisters, Domingga (Domeng) Dumayag, Fortunata (Nestor) Rotaquio, Erlinda (Fred) Solomon, Josephine (Lamberto) Fernandez, and Marlyn (Ronald) Sarmenta, all of the Philippines; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evangeline Utrera, 50, of Kailua-Kona died July 22, 2014, at her residence. Born Dec. 30, 1963, in Naravacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a stock clerk at Walmart and a member of the Catholic Church.

Jane Kiyoko Ota, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 14, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 31, 1924, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and member of Community of Christ Church and Na Kupuna O West Hawaii.

She is survived by sons, Robert (Diane) Ota of Ellensburg, Wash., Steve Ota of California; daughters, Cindy Adams of Dallas, Texas, Jeri (Rudy) Espiritu of Kailua-Kona, Gay Mukai of Hilo; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Wilda Alquist Hodgins, 99, of Kailua-Kona died July 28, 2014, at her residence. Born Oct. 18, 1914, in Thompson, Iowa, she was a homemaker, a former registered nurse and a volunteer with various charities.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 13 at Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua for a service. Light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Episcopal or Kona Community Hospital Foundation.
She is survived by son, Aka (Pearlie) Hodgins of Kaunakakai, Maui; daughters, Mary (Jim) Higgins of Puuanahulu, Hannah Hodgins of Captain Cook; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Calvin “Fats” Isao Nago, 59, of Hilo died Aug. 18, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 29, 1954, he was an engineering supervisor for Kona Coast Resort and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 745.

Earl Michael Duarte, 65, of Hilo died July 18, 2014, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born Oct. 21, 1948, in Honolulu, he was a security guard and U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
