No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-4.1 earthquake that struck early Friday in deep waters southwest of Lanai, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu says.

No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-4.1 earthquake that struck early Friday in deep waters southwest of Lanai, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu says.

The earthquake was recorded at 2:37 a.m. and based upon all available data a tsunami was not triggered, the center said. It was registered at a depth of nearly 4 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The USGS also placed the earthquake at a magnitude-4.2.

The USGS said Friday morning that 70 residents across the state reported feeling the temblor, from the North Kona area to Oahu.
