Wood sculpter Rock Cross to appear in Waikoloa
Rock Cross, the award-winning master of wood sculpture and contemporary wood furniture design will appear at two artist receptions at Martin &MacArthur in the Kings’ Shops Waikoloa.
The receptions will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 1 and 12.
Greg Dewar, general manager of Martin &MacArthur at the Kings’ Shops Waikoloa, said “All of our customers on the Big Island will have the opportunity to meet Rock. He has been called a master of projecting a fourth dimension in wood and is truly a brilliant artist who defies categorization. Daily I see people stopped, stunned and asking just how he made these amazing pieces of wood art.”
Other artists have been invited including Salter Fine Cutlery, Don Albrecht, David Reisland, DeEtte and Allan and Jacobson Studios.
Rock’s home studio is in Laupahoehoe and he says every day stimulates him. “My inspiration comes from being aware of my surroundings. Flowers, clouds, birds in flight, the arc of a wave—anything might prompt an idea.”
