Hawaii Sheriff Division K9 Team Deputy Rollin Cannon and Deputy K9 Robbie are featured in the month of May in Vested Interest in K9 Inc.’s national 2015 calendar, the state Department of Public Safety announced Thursday.
Hawaii Sheriff Division K9 Team Deputy Rollin Cannon and Deputy K9 Robbie are featured in the month of May in Vested Interest in K9 Inc.’s national 2015 calendar, the state Department of Public Safety announced Thursday.
The calendar, proceeds from which help to raise funds to purchase canine protective vests for law enforcement dogs around the nation, including Hawaii, is available online at ik9s.org.
Cannon is a 15-year veteran of the Sheriff Division. He has been assigned to the Sheriff K9 Unit for 12 years where he and his K9, Robbie, have been a team. Robbie is an 11-0year old Dutch shepherd and is trained to locate narcotics and apprehend fugitives . This team is also detached to the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force.
“Over the past four and a half years, with generous donations from individuals, organizations and businesses and lots of volunteer hours, we’ve helped vest over 1,100 law enforcement dogs, locally and nationwide. Each vest costs $950 which comes with a 5 year warranty,” Sandy Marcal, president of the nonprofit, Vested Interest in K9s Inc., said in a prepared statement. “We’re really excited to offer this nationwide calendar, as it shows a variety of law enforcement departments, police dog breeds, and general activities of K9 teams. We have German Shepherd Dogs, Labrador retriever, Dutch Shepherd, Belgian Malinois and a Bloodhound in the calendar. Law enforcement K9s from Alaska, Hawaii, Chicago, Florida, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Ohio, Maryland and Massachusetts are featured.”
