Except for a couple of sharp turns and a park, Kaʻuʻs Waiohinu town could easily be passed by motorists traversing Hawaii Island via Highway 11.

Except for a couple of sharp turns and a park, Kaʻuʻs Waiohinu town could easily be passed by motorists traversing Hawaii Island via Highway 11.

But the quaint Big Island town wasn’t missed by Oreo, the maker of the famous chocolate sandwich cookie, which is treating 49 other tiny towns just like Waiohinu to a mini delivery featuring Oreos beginning this week.

Each household in the town, which has an estimated 213 residents, will receive a parcel via mail containing an OREO Mini cookie as well as a custom note that acknowledges something that makes Waiohinu special, Oreo announced Monday.

“At Oreo, we truly believe that it’s the little things that make life special, from little gestures to little places,” Janda Lukin, Senior Director Oreo at Mondelez International, said in a prepared statement. “We thought Oreo Mini was the perfect token to recognize and celebrate those special little things in life that have big impact. Oreo Mini Deliveries are our way of saying a little thanks to the people and places who help put a little bit of wonder into the big world every day.”

The pint-sized parcels will come straight from “the tiniest mini mart there ever was,” Mel’s Mini-Mini Mart. Mel’s is the starring fictional store in the brand’s recent long-form video in which the mini mart is passed by and overlooked because of its size until one family takes the time to peek inside.

Residents outside of the 50 tiny towns that already have their Oreo Mini delivery on the way, can also take part in the promotion at oreominidelivery.com. As part of the program, 500 Oreo Mini parcels will be available each day on a first-come-first-served basis through Aug. 22, Monday through Friday. Each free delivery includes a personalized note from the sender.
