Tropical Storm Genevieve continues to pack 45 mph winds as it continues its trek across the Central Pacific far southwest of Honolulu, Central Pacific Hurricane forecasters say. Genevieve is located 1,215 miles west-southwest of Honolulu.
At 5 p.m. Hawaii time on Tuesday, Genevieve was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and traveling west-northwest around 14 mph. Strengthening is expected Tuesday and Wednesday, according to forecasters. Genevieve is expected to become a typhoon after crossing the International Dateline in the west Pacific within the next couple of days.
Tropical storm force winds currently extend 25 miles outward from the storm’s center, according to forecasters.
