HONOLULU — The chancellor of the University of Hawaii’s Manoa campus said he has been fired after two years on the job.
Tom Apple told reporters in an email that he received a termination letter Wednesday from UH President David Lassner for alleged unsatisfactory job performance.
Apple was hired in May 2012 at an annual salary of about $439,000. Former UH President M.R.C. Greenwood recommended he be appointed to a five-year term subject to annual performance evaluations.
“The community has a right to know from the horse’s mouth, rather than wondering what happened,” Apple wrote.
