Deborah Ho Chee

Deborah Leilani Ho Chee, 58, of Honomu died July 20, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born June 21, 1956, in Hilo, she was a private housekeeper and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honomu Branch.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. July 29 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. July 30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honomu Branch, for an 11 a.m. service. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Alae Cemetery, Mormon Section. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by father, Samuel Ho Chee of Honomu; sisters, Sandra (Eldred) Kalehua, Alice (Allen) Enocencio, Pearl Ho Chee and Nadine (Keith) Hughes, all of Hilo, Janice Ho Chee of Honomu, Holly (Doug) Dupont of Ninole; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Isabella Javier

Isabella Yee Moy Tong Javier, 97, of Hilo died July 21, 2014, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born Aug. 15, 1916, in Lahaina, Maui, she was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. July 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo, for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1. Family requests casual attire. In lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph School or St. Joseph Church.

She is survived by daughter, Lisa (Russell Kaneko) Javier of Hilo; sisters, Elsie Bow of Honolulu, Agnes Tong of Fleetwood, Pa.; brother, Clarence (Betty) Tong of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Theodora Benevides

Theodora “Etta” “Nana” Benevides, 93, of Hilo died July 21, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born Dec. 12, 1920, in Hakalau, she was a homemaker, child caregiver and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. July 31 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 1 at the church for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial is at 11:30 a.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by husband, Anthony Benevides of Hilo; sons, Sonny (Geneva) Haleamau and Patrick Haleamau, both of Hilo; hanai sons, Anthony (Coleen) Haleamau and Kaohe (Jaylyn) Haleamau, both of Hilo; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mitsuo Tachibana

Mitsuo “Benty” Tachibana, 89, of Hilo died July 20, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 7, 1924, in Amauulu, he was a retired engineering department senior coordinator with Hawaii Electric Light Co., World War II Army veteran of Company K, 442nd Regimental Combat Team and member of Taishoji Soto Mission and Fukushima Ken Jin Kai and former member of the HELCO Golf Club, Japanese Golf Club, Fugu Golf Club and the Big Island Ballroom Dance Club.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. July 30 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Ruth Tachibana of Hilo; son, Leslie (Ruth) Tachibana of Hilo; daughters, Arlene (Rogelio) Padamada of Humble, Texas, Diane (Ken) Matsuzaki of Reno, Nev., Carole (Mark) Abril of Hilo; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Tamotsu Sasaki

Tamotsu “Tom” Sasaki, 92, of Pahoa died July 19, 2014, at his daughter’s residence in Keaau. Born in Pahoa, he was a retired farmer and member of Kyu Pahoa Kumiai.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Aug. 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Betty Sasaki of Pahoa; daughter, Linda (Todd) Hale of Keaau; son, Alan (Noriko) Sasaki of Irvine, Calif.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Archie Nakata

Archie Tokuso Nakata, 86, of Mililani, Oahu, died July 11, 2014, at Wahiawa General Hospital. Born in South Kohala, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was an airport post office mail carrier.

Private services were held.

He is survived by Edna Nakata of Mililani, Oahu; brothers, Yoshio Nakata of California, Tsuruo Nakata of Waimea; sisters, Takako Ota of Waimea, Nancy (James) Enomoto of Honolulu; nephews and nieces.

Fujio Sueno

Fujio Sueno, 95, of Hilo died June 30, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hakalau, he was a World War II Army veteran serving with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Company C, 100th Infantry Battalion.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

He is survived by wife, Alice Sueno of Kaneohe, Oahu; daughters, Leimomi (Michael) Kawakami of Honolulu, Norma (Ron) Kobashigawa of Kaneohe, Oahu; son, Leroy (Diane) Sueno of Kahului, Maui; sister, Hiroko Kamita of Wailuku, Maui; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
