Tropical storm Genevieve formed in the Eastern Pacific overnight. Located about 1,400 miles east-southeast of Hilo, the system is forecast to pass well south of the islands. The storm is moving to the west at approximately seven miles an hour, with sustained winds to 45 miles per hour extending 60 miles out from the center.
No further strengthening is anticipated, and Genevieve is expected to become a remnant low by Monday.
Meanwhile, a disorganized area of low pressure located about 850 miles southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii continued to produce widely scattered thunderstorms across a broad area. This system may develop during the next few days as it moves westward across the Central Pacific. That system is also on a track to pass well to the south.
