“Trial by Jury: Disorder in the Court,” a comic opera in one act will be performed at 4 p.m. Sunday at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
The Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kahilu Theatre have joined forces to produce this pastiche opera based on Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury.”
This musical comedy is a story of a wedding gone wrong and a bride left at the altar who seeks revenge in court. The performance will be conducted by Kamuela Philharmonic’s Madeline Schatz and directed by Hawaii Performing Art Festival’s Robin Buck, with cast and chamber orchestra from the festival.
Director Robin Buck is a critically acclaimed baritone, actor, and professor at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California at Irvine. Waimea’s own Aidan Wharton will sing the lead role of the Judge, and the chorus will consist of singers from the community. Erin Winker-Fasone, one of Hawaii’s finest sopranos, plays the enraged bride.
Tickets are $32, $27, $22 or $17 depending on seating selection and are available at kahilutheatre.org or by calling 885-6868. All Kahilu Presents show ticket prices now include the $2 box office fee.
