HONOLULU — Hawaii health officials are advising people to stay out of Kaneohe Bay after a sanitary sewer overflow.
Hawaii News Now reports that heavy rains connected to Tropical Storm Wali caused a stream to overflow its banks. As a result, the Kaneohe transfer pump station was flooded Sunday morning.
Officials say it’s difficult to determine the amount of wastewater involved from the facility, which was evacuated.
Warning signs have been posted about Kaneohe Bay. People are advised to stay out of the area from Makani Kai Marina to Kaneohe Yacht Club.
