KAHULUI, Maui — Maui County is looking for a new home for its Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing and some of its tax offices.

KAHULUI, Maui — Maui County is looking for a new home for its Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing and some of its tax offices.

The Maui News reports that county officials visited two potential sites on Monday.

The owners of the Maui Mall say they want to rent the spaces to commercial enterprises. They’re giving the county until 2016 to relocate the service centers.

The owners were saying the county’s lease would end in 2015, but they gave the county more time and extended it by a year with the possibility of another extension.

Maui’s Budget and Finance Committee is planning to take up the matter on July 29 in council chambers.

People who attended the site visits say relocating to the Maui Business Park would be a good idea.
