Four young golfers from Hilo competed this week at the junior championships near San Diego.
In the 9-and 10-year-old girls division, Kiersten Saludares tied for 22nd after recording rounds of 64-60-66 to finish at 22-over. KaileyOki (89-83-80) was 65th of 66 golfers at 84-over.
Alexa Pano (1-under 167) of Lake Worth, Fla., claimed the title.
In boys 9-10, Dysen Park shot 31-over 217 and tied for 89th, while Jason Kurizaki (40-over 303) came in last among 118 golfers.
Tatsuki Nemoto (5-under 181) of Oceanside, California, captured the division.
Hawaii State Junior Golf Association
Hilo’s Lacey Uchida and Mari Ebersole finished third and fourth, respectively, on Friday at a Junior Tour Series event at Honolulu Country Club.
Uchida was 34-over through two rounds, four shots ahead of Ebersole.
Winner Alison Takamiya of Honolulu came in at 23-over.
U.S. Amateur qualifier
Kamehameha-Hawaii graduate Nainoa Calip and Waiakea’s Shon Katahira were in the top 10 on Wednesday at Mililani Golf Club on Oahu but missed on a trip to the United States Golf Association championship.
Calip (72-23 — 145) tied for fifth, while Katahira (75-71 — 146) tied for ninth in a 30-player qualifier won by Honolulu’s Kyosuke Kevin Hara (136).
Among the other golfers at 146 was University of Hawaii at Hilo junior Kyeton Littel and former Vulcan Christian Agosto. Another former Vulcan, Isaac Jaffurs, turned in a 154.
