A generator at the Keahole Power Plant unexpectedly tripped offline Friday, causing two power interruptions to approximately 10,000 customers islandwide, said Kristen Okinaka, Hawaii Electric Light Co. spokeswoman.

The first power interruption happened at 6:13 a.m. and power was restored to all customers 10 minutes later. The second power interruption happened at 12:03 p.m. and power was restored at 12:09 p.m., Okinaka said.

HELCO is investigating the cause, she added.
