HONOLULU — U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz says United Airlines have agreed with a union to keep about 220 jobs at airports on Kauai, Maui and the Big Island.
Schatz said Thursday the airline came to an agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Airline officials did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment after hours on the U.S. mainland.
The airline told employees in March that it was considering the possibility of outsourcing jobs at airports in Lihue, Kahului and Kailua-Kona.
Schatz wrote a letter to the airline’s CEO to say he would try to protect the jobs.
