Caroline V. “Aunty Carol” Cadabona, 73, of Hilo died June 30, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 18, 1941, in Ookala, she worked for California Nursery (Hawaii Growers) and was a member of New Hope Cross Road Church.

James Y.C. “Jimmy” Lee, 86, of Hilo died June 23, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Kawaihae, he was the owner of the former Jimmy’s Archery and Taxidermy, a Korean War Army veteran, involved in the Hawaii Island Archery Club and member of the Kaumana Alenaio Kumiai.

Glen Ivan Runyon, 68, Naalehu died July 3, 2014, at his residence. Born Aug. 23, 1945, in Lewis County, Wash., he was a building contractor and member of the Alaskan National Guard.

Masayuki Matsumoto
Masayuki “Masa” Matsumoto, 88, of Hilo died June 17, 2014, at his home. Born Jan. 16, 1926, in Kona, he was a retired grocery products salesman, World War II Army veteran and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by daughter, Iris Wong of Kona; companion, Mayumi Ota of Hilo; two grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman Matsubara
Norman Isamu Matsubara, 59, of Keauhou died June 25, 2014, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born March 3, 1955, in Kealakekua, he was a yard maintenance man and member of the Arc of Kona.

He is survived by mother, Akino Matsubara of Kealakekua; brothers, Carl (Ogi) Matsubara of Kealakekua, Bruce Matsubara of Keaau; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; two nieces; three nephews; two grandnieces.

Walther Dettweiler
Rev. Walther “Walt” Richard Dettweiler, 81, of Waimea died July 2, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 27, 1933, in Newark, N.J., he was a retired Episcopal priest, a jazz musician, spiritual counselor and longtime AA member.
Friends may call at 9:15 a.m. July 19 at St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea for a 10 a.m. service. A potluck luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church Waimea. For information, contact the church office at 885-4923.
