HONOLULU — Teachers at Pearl Harbor Elementary estimate a loss of $2,000 to $3,000 after thieves broke into lockers and a gardening shed and stole or damaged items.

Randall Galeon tells KHON-TV that custodians on Monday discovered the theft of items that were to be used for a garden project during the next school year.

Thousands of seeds were taken, along with pots, gardening tools, gloves and other items.

Teacher Kristi Ingel says the thieves apparently unscrewed the shed roof and took it off but also cut locks.

Galeon says the stolen items were donated and staff members are not sure how long it will take to replace them.
