Samuel Lum Ho Sr.
Samuel “Aiau” Lum Ho Sr., 75, of Hilo, died June 20, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 17, 1939, in Hilo, he was self-employed as a local fisherman.
Friends may call at 3:30 p.m. July 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo, for a 5 p.m. service. Cremation follows. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by daughters, Haunani (Sateki) Nau of Keaau, Leimomi Lum Ho and Leilani (George) Kimura, both of Hilo; son, Samuel (Mavis) Lum Ho Jr. of Hilo; sister, Dorothy Leite of Hilo; brothers, Johnny Lum Ho of Hilo, Nolan (Valerie) Remmers of Keaau; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lois Hartley
Lois “Reg” Reginald Hartley, 93, of Kailua-Kona died June 26, 2014, at his residence. Born Feb. 3, 1921, in Comanche, Okla., he was a retired carpenter, a former flight steward for Pan American Airlines and member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
A memorial will be held 2 p.m. July 5 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Keauhou.
He is survived by wife, Sonja Hartley of Kailua-Kona; sons, Paul Hartley of Mexico, Pieter (Beverly) Salas of Modesto, Calif., Mark (Heidi) Hartley and Brett Hartley, both of Bethlehem, Pa.; daughters, Charmaine (Wayne) Wagner of South Carolina, Eden (Darren) Kapaun of Kailua-Kona; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Harland Reed
Harland “Uncle Handsome” Ross Reed, 69, of Waimea died June 26, 2014, at his home. Born March 10, 1945, in Kahuku, Oahu, he was a retired motion picture teamster driver.

Marcos Rillanos Jr.
Marcos “Padgie” Rillanos Jr., 66, of Honokaa died June 25, 2014, at home. Born Dec. 5, 1947, in Haina, he was an employee of Mauna Kea Resort Services, former employee of Hamakua Sugar Co. and member of HK Team (Honokaa) Kapuna Senior Baseball League and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

Marion Shintani
Marion Midori Shintani, 75, of Hilo died June 22, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born Aug. 15, 1938, in Pepeekeo, she was the restaurant owner of Koji’s Bento Korner and member of the Hilo Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. July 5 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by husband, Koji Shintani of Hilo; daughters, Karen Murakami of California, Sandra Wilson and Robyn (Bruce) Oda, both of Hilo; son, Drew Shintani of Hilo; brothers, Mitsunori Mihara and Hisao Mihara, both of Hilo; sisters, Jean Tomosada of Hilo, Masako Kawasaki of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard “Piggy” Kuakini Kaleohano, 56, of Keaukaha died June 20, 2014, at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center on Oahu.
Born in Hilo, he was professional entertainer, audio engineer proprietor of RK Audio and member of the Keaukaha Community Association and Merrie Monarch Festival Committee.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6 at the Kawananakoa Hall in Keaukaha for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Mary Kathleen Aplaca, 58, of Waialua, Oahu, died June 16, 2014, in Hilo. She was born Jan. 22, 1956, in Omaha, Neb..

Evelyn Bursey
Evelyn Pearl Bursey, 89, of Hilo died June 6, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 21, 1925, in Boston, she was a retired hotel casino worker.

Delansey Gacuzana
Delansey “Dee” Juan Gacuzana, 70, of Keaau died May 31, 2014, at his home. Born in Opihikao, he was a maintenance chief at a high-rise Waikiki hotel, as well as Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Honolulu, a retired businessman, private pilot, inventor, sky diver and ukulele musician.
Private services were held.
He is survived by son, Darin Gacuzana of Atlanta; sister, Maring Gacusana of Pahoa; brothers, Wendell Gacusana and Melvin Gacusana, both of Hilo; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Myers
Mary Morning Star Myers, 83, of Ocean View died June 8, 2014, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, Calif. Born Dec. 24, 1930, in Hokah, Minn., she retired from the County of Los Angeles Department of Family and Children’s Services – Indian Unit, was an Army Corps veteran, and a Ho Chunk Elder in the American Indian community.
Services were held in Torrance, Calif. Scattering of her ashes will be held at a later date in Hawaii.
She is survived by children, Geneinne (Mike) Morgan and Harlow (Rose) Myers, both of Torrance, Calif., Mark (Danette) Myers of Kaloko, Christ Myers of Ocean View; brother, David Twinn of Fresno, Calif.; hanai daughters, Phaedrea Twinn of Torrance, Calif., Tamara Twinn of Minot, N.D.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene Young
Gene Allan Young, 83, of Kailua-Kona died June 15, 2014, at his residence. Born Sept. 10, 1930, in Glendale, Calif., he was a retired machine shop business owner and Navy veteran.
Private services were held.
He is survived by wife, Jeannine Young of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Chris Young of Napa, Calif., Robin Young of Missoula, Mont.; one grandson.

George Christopher Constantis, 80, of Kailua-Kona died June 23, 2014. Born Sept. 23, 1933, in Greece, he was a handyman and small appliance repairman.

Patrick Summerfield
Patrick Albert Summerfield, 87, of Hawi died June 5, 2014. Born March 24, 1927, in Stratford, West Ham, England, he was a British army veteran of World War II and metallurgical engineer.
Private services are planned with burial at Kona Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Hawaii Hospice.
He is survived by wife, Barbara Summerfield of Hawi.

Ayako Sunada
Ayako Sunada, 93, of Hilo died June 24, 2014, at her residence. Born in Waimea, she was the owner of the former Hawaiian Orchid Co. and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and its Buddhist Women’s Association.
Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.
He is survived by sons, Gilbert Sunada of Hilo, Kelvin (Christine) Sunada of Honolulu; daughter, Sharon (Goering) Toda of Honolulu; stepmother, Onatsu Nakamoto of Mililani, Oahu; half-brothers, Francis Nakamoto of Mililani, Oahu, Clarence Nakamoto of Kahului, Maui, Richard Nakamoto of Kaneohe, Oahu; half-sisters, Maureen Onishi of Honolulu, Bertha Ohta of Kona, Cora Suayan of Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
