County to issue senior ID cards
The Coordinated Services for the Elderly Program of the Hawaii County Elderly Activities Division will issue senior ID cards for seniors 60 years and older from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart in Kailua-Kona.
Staff will also issue cards from 9 to 11 a.m. July 8 at the L. Yoshimatsu Senior Center in Waimea; 9 to 10 a.m. July 14 at Pahala Hawaii Housing Center, 11 a.m. to noon July 14 at Naalehu Community Center, 9 to 11 a.m. July 15 at Kohala SCE building, 3 to 4 p.m. July 28, Hale Hauoli Senior Center, Honokaa, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 30, West Hawaii Civic Center, Building B.

Guided meditation classes offered
Gavin Harrison leads Walking Meditation in the Wild from 8:30 to 10 a.m. July 5 and on the first Saturday of each month at Iole, the Historic Bond Homestead, at 53-496 Iole Road in Kapaau. Participants should bring a hat, hiking shoes, water, a cushion for rest stops, rain gear and mosquito repellent. There is no charge, but a donation of $10 to $15 is suggested. Harrison also leads a sitting and walking meditation with dialogue, and meditation guidance from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 6 and on the first Sunday of each month at Waimea Events Salon, 66-1664 Waiaka St. Experienced and beginning meditators are welcome. West Hawaii blood drives scheduled
Blood Bank of Hawaii will hold three blood drives in West Hawaii.
The first is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. July 7 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kona Stake cultural hall at 75-230 Kalani St. A drive will also be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8 at Hilton Waikoloa Village. A third drive will be from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Kona Stake.
Donors must be in good health, 18 years of age or older, or 17 with signed Blood Bank of Hawaii consent form, weigh at least 110 pounds and bring a valid photo ID with date of birth.
