HONOLULU — Police on Maui say a 63-year-old California man died in the water off Black Rock in Lahaina.
Police say Eugene Chu of San Bernardino was pulled from the water Wednesday.
Witnesses told police they spotted Chu at 11:22 a.m. floating face-down about 75 yards from shore.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports others on the beach pulled Chu to shore and attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Maui Fire Department personnel continued CPR but Chu could not be revived.
