HONOLULU — Two Chinese ships have arrived in Hawaii as part of the country’s delegation taking part in naval exercises starting this week.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Tuesday that missile destroyer Haikou arrived at Pearl Harbor flying Chinese and American flags. A hospital ship called Peace Ark arrived a short time later.

Two other ships from China are expected to arrive for the Rim of the Pacific exercises. The naval exercises start Thursday and run through early August.

The exercises will include 23 countries, with nearly 50 ships, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 military personnel.
