Hawaii Department of Public Safety Sheriff Deputies on the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force apprehended Oahu Community Correctional Center escapee Daniel Skelton at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday in the Nuuanu area of Oahu.

Hawaii Department of Public Safety Sheriff Deputies on the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force apprehended Oahu Community Correctional Center escapee Daniel Skelton at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday in the Nuuanu area of Oahu.

The capture went smoothly, according to the Hawaii Department of Public Safety. Skelton will be booked on a first-degree escape charge.

Sheriffs continue to pursue leads and search for Alan Abihai, the work furlough inmate who didn’t return to OCCC after work last week, according to the department.

Skelton escaped Monday from OCCC. He was at the jail since June 4 for violating probation.

According to court records, Skelton was on probation for a burglary conviction.
