HONOLULU — An inmate escaped Monday from the Oahu Community Correctional Center.

State Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Toni Schwartz said Daniel Skelton was missing from the 6 a.m. headcount on Monday.

Schwartz said Skelton was at the jail since June 4 for violating probation.

According to court records, Skelton was on probation for a burglary conviction.

Schwartz said it appears Skelton somehow got into the ceiling and onto the roof. She says he jumped down and got out through a “weak spot” in the fence.

Hawaii News Now reports he was last seen wearing the jail’s brown uniform.
