Deadline for Keaau softball applications
Keaau High School is accepting applications for the junior varsity and varsity softball head coach position.
Applications can be picked up at the school’s main office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Applications must be submitted by Friday and date-stamped to be eligible.
Applicants must complete interviews and agree to background checks.

Father’s Day fun run in Waimea
The Waimea Preservation Association is sponsoring a benefit 4.5k fun run/walk Sunday starting at 8 a.m. at the Waimea Tax Office, at the corner of the main intersection across from Bank of Hawaii.
Registration for the stroller-friendly run/walk is 7 to 7:45 a.m. Fees are $20 for adults and $15 for ages 12 to 18; free for children younger than 12.
After the race, there will be refreshments, including complimentary bottled water, and prizes at Spencer House. Participants will receive bandanas and souvenir family photos taken on the front lawn.

Hapuna Beach Roughwater Swim
The Hapuna Beach Roughwater Swim, part of the Bike Works Triple Crown Series, will take place Saturday at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area.

Hawaii Cycling Club time trial
The Hawaii Cycling Club’s Hilo series of free Training Time Trials continues Saturday at 8 a.m. with an 11.1-mile ride in Pahoa starting at Pohoiki Road and Kapoho-Kalapana Road.
Registration is 7 to 7:30 a.m. at Ahia Road and Pahoa-Kalapana Road, where the trial finishes. There will be a warm-up ride to the start and an informal group ride after the trial.

Soccer camps at UH-Hilo
The University of Hawaii at Hilo soccer program is hosting three camps over the next two months.
• The Vulcans Keiki Soccer Summer Camp will be June 16 and 17 on the soccer field. Registration for the free clinic for players 4 to 6 years old is Friday.
• Vulcans Soccer Summer Camps are on tap for June 16 to 19 and July 21 to 24. Ages 7 to 10 are on the field 9 a.m. to noon; ages 11 to 14 on the field 1 to 4 p.m.
The camp fee is $60. Deadline registrations are Friday for the June camp and July 18 for the July camp.

Free bowling for keiki
KBXtreme in Kailua-Kona is partnering with Kids Bowl Free, a national summer bowling program for children younger than 15, to allow two free games on weekdays.
This year, KBXtreme is nominating Big Island elementary and intermediate schools for the Bowling for Schools $50,000 grant program. The program runs to Aug. 31.

The second of four events of a summer tournament at Makalei Golf Club is scheduled for June 21.
The other dates are July 19 and Aug. 16.

AYSO soccer camps
AYSO Region 527 and Team Soccer Direct are offering camps June 24 to 26 at Old Kona Airport Park. The day camp, for U-6 to U-14, is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $130.
The high school camp, for U-14 to U-18, is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $85.
There is a $10 discount for registration online at teamsoccerdirect.com. Each player receives a T-shirt and certificate.
Participants must bring balls.

High school rodeo at Paniolo Park
The Hawaii High School Rodeo at Paniolo Park in Waimea features the state finals high school division Friday to Sunday.
The competition is free; donations are welcome. Food will be sold, with proceeds to benefit the program.

Brantley Center golf benefit
The Brantley Center will host its 36th annual golf tournament fundraiser June 22 at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course.
The format is two-person best ball.

Following the tournament, there will be a luncheon, auction and prizes at Banjy’s Paradise Bar and Grill in Waikoloa.
Proceeds benefit adults with disabilities who participate in rehab programs offered at the center. The center welcomes donations from individuals and businesses. All donations are tax deductible.
Big Island soccer camp at HPA
The Big Island I.D. Soccer Camp will be held June 23 to 26 at Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
The camp is divided into two sessions: Youth Camp, Under 7 to 14, runs from 8 a.m. to noon.
College I.D. Camp, U15-18, runs from 3 to 6 p.m.
Cost is $165 per camper.

20th annual King’s Swim
Kona Aquatics will host the 20th annual King’s Swim on July 5 at Kailua Bay.
The 1.2-mile course begins at Kailua Bay and ends at Kamakahonu Bay. No wetsuits or fins are permitted.
Applications are available at Bikeworks in Kona. A nonrefundable entry fee of $15 must accompany the application. The registration deadline is June 30. Late registration will be held at Kailua Pier from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. race day for $20.
Division awards will be presented to the top three finishers and prizes will be drawn throughout the postrace ceremonies.
Volunteers with kayaks, surfboards or standup paddleboards who volunteer for safety patrol are welcome; report to the pier before 7:30 a.m.

Registration for Hilo’s triathlon
Hilo’s first official triathlon will start at 7 a.m. July 13 at James Kealoha Beach Park.
The Olympic-distance race — 1.5-km swim, 40-km bike ride and 10-km run — is limited to 500 participants.
Registration is $175 to midnight June 30.

Summer hoops camp at Konawaena
Huntington Prep’s Rob Fulford will be the guest coach at the 2014 Hawaii Island Hoops College-Prep Basketball Camp.
The camp is scheduled June 16 to 20 at Konawaena High School.
Fulford has a 138-17 record in five years at Huntington Prep and sent 30 players to the Division 1 level. In that five-year span, he coached 15 McDonald All-American nominees and current NBA player Gorgui Dieng of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The HIH camp features coaches from the NCAA, NAIA and junior college levels.
