Science event for keiki at libraries
In celebration of the 2014 Hawaii State Public Library System’s children’s summer reading program, HouseMart Ace Hardware and HouseMart Ben Franklin Crafts will present “Hardware Science,” a free event at public libraries from today through June 18.
Children ages 8 and older are invited to explore all things related to science and will learn some science, technology, engineering, arts and math concepts. In this one-hour program, children will learn how to think like a scientist and experience live science demonstrations using simple equipment and tools available at hardware and craft stores.
This year’s theme “Fizz, Boom, Read” will allow children — preschool-age to those entering sixth grade this fall — to experiment with building lava lamps, launching rockets and creating a solar system mobile.
Attend a “Hardware Science” program event at these libraries:
• Today, 3 p.m., Naalehu Public Library, 939-2442
• Wednesday, 10 a.m., Mountain View Public and School Library, 968-2322
