Edward Pung

Edward Pung, 87, of Honokaa died May 15, 2014, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Papaaloa, he was a retired truck driver for Hamakua Sugar Co.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. May 22 at Saint Anthony’s Parish in Papaaloa for a 10 a.m. Mass.

He is survived by sons, Stacy Pung of Honokaa, Stephen (Kum Suk) Pung of Wylie, Texas; daughters, Roxanne (Yoshiki Osaki) Pung of Kawaihae, Sharee Rodrigues of Kalopa, Rainee Pung of Kapehu; brothers, Joseph Pung of Honokaa, Ernest (Dawn) Pung of Hilo; sister, Florence (Joseph) Zolik of Delaware; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Keith Fukunaga

Keith “Fuki” Fukunaga, 60, of Keaau died May 9, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was an assistant manager at Mr. K’s Recycle &Redemption Center and an entrepreneur.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. May 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Cremation follows. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by daughter, Drudale Fukunaga of Keaau; sons, Saul Fukunaga and Keith (Drina) Fukunaga, both of Keaau; companion, Lizzie Quintal of Keaau; father, Clarence Fukunaga of Keaau; brother, Carlton (Pauline) Fukunaga of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Elvira Kamekona

Elvira “Vera” Paez Kamekona, 76, of Pahoa died May 14, 2014, at home. Born Jan. 7, 1938, in El Paso, Texas, she was a bilingual teacher in Paso Robles, Calif., and member of San Miguel Mission in California and Thy Word Ministries Faith Center in Hilo.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. May 23 at Thy Word Ministries Faith Center in Hilo for a service. Flowers may be sent to 13-748 Leilani Ave., Pahoa, HI 96778.

She is survived by sons, Henry Kamekona III of Honolulu, Armando (Lisa) Kamekona of California; daughter, Dora (Clyde) Wheatley of Pahoa; sisters, Angie (George) Harbison of El Paso, Texas, Emilia McDermont of Paso Robles, Calif.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Vance Fawcett

Vance Kamehameha Fawcett, 60, of Kawaihae died April 23, 2014, at his home. An obituary published previously stated a wrong date of death because of information supplied to West Hawaii Today.
