A high surf advisory for Hawaii Island’s south-facing shores goes into effect at noon Friday.
The service said a south-southwest swell will fuel waves ranging in height from 4 to 8 feet along the south-facing shores of the Big Island’s north, east, south and Kona coasts. The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.
The service categorized the surf’s impact as “moderate” and advise the public to expect strong breaking waves and strong rip currents that can make swimming dangerous and heed all advice given by ocean safety officials
