Kevin Halverson, who was born with the name Vaughn Sherwood, was sentenced on Wednesday to 57 months in prison along with 3 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $213,000 in restitution.
Halverson admitting to using various identities to illegally receive benefits such as medical care and student tuition assistance. He changed his name in 1999.
He says he is sorry and stole the benefits because it became easy to do.
