No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-6.8 earthquake Monday night off the coast of Central America.

The earthquake struck at 8:35 p.m. Hawaii time in waters south of Panama, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu.

Based on all available data, the center said a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
