HONOLULU — Hawaii residents will now have to present new documents to obtain a driver’s license in the state.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser says that starting Thursday, individuals need to present two documents showing proof of principle residence in Hawaii.
The new requirements are the same as those in effect for state IDs.
Officials will accept copies or original documents with the applicant’s name and address as proof of principle resident.
Documents that will be accepted include current valid Hawaii driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations or titles, and current voter registration cards.
Also accepted are mail from a government or medical entity not more than two months old, utility bills not more than two months old and federal Hawaii income tax returns from the previous year.
