RENTON, Wash. — Earl Thomas is the latest member of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks to be rewarded.
A person with knowledge of the deal says Thomas and the Seahawks have reached agreement on a $40 million, four-year contract extension. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Monday on the condition of anonymity because there had been no announcement from the team.
Thomas, a two-time first-team All-Pro, was Seattle’s second-leading tackler last season and added five interceptions.
Bears WR Morgan charged with assault in DC
WASHINGTON — Chicago Bears wide receiver Josh Morgan has been arrested and charged with punching a man outside a Washington nightclub.
DC police spokesman Officer Paul Metcalf confirmed Monday night that a man named Josh Morgan was arrested early Sunday and charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor.
The Bears say they are aware of “Josh Morgan’s presence at a weekend incident in Washington, D.C.,” and are gathering information.
Ex-Browns star Kosar pleads to lesser charge
CLEVELAND — Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar has pleaded no contest to a lesser charge after blaming knee and ankle surgeries for not performing a field sobriety test during a traffic stop last year.
Kosar had been charged with drunken-driving in September, but on Monday he entered a plea to reckless operation and received a fine and suspended jail sentence.
Police say officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol when Kosar was pulled over in Solon, in suburban Cleveland.
