Laughter and cheers filled the air as the Harlem Globetrotters made their West Hawaii debut Sunday afternoon, showing off their world-famous basketball wizardry in front of a packed house at Kealakehe gymnasium.
The world-renowned showmen brought their Fans Rule World Tour to Kailua-Kona, showing off their skills and providing the thrills that have become synonymous with Globetrotter games through the organization’s 88-year history.
Adding to the excitement, fans were able to choose the rules implemented throughout the game.
Players on the court included veterans and fan favorites Flight Time Lang and Bull Bullard, as well as female player T-Time Brawner.
The Globetrotters played the World All-Stars, but the focus of the crowd was never on the scoreboard. Instead, the audience had a great time watching the antics of the Globetrotters.
After the game, the players stuck around to socialize with fans and sign autographs.
The Globetrotters performed a doubleheader Saturday on Oahu before hopping over to the Big Island for their matinee performance Sunday. The Hawaii leg of the tour finishes on Oahu’s North Shore at the George Q. Cannon Activities Center today.
