Dozens of people turned out Saturday afternoon for the first-ever Kailua Kanikapila Community Picnic held at Hale Halawai in Kona’s Kailua Village.

The free, oceanfront event featured performances by award-winning entertainers Darlene Ahuna and John Cruz as well as vendors and traditional Hawaiian games for the keiki.

The picnic was sponsored by the Kailua Village Business Improvement District, Hawaii Tourism Authority, and the County of Hawaii.
