A wind advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for areas of Hawaii Island, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters in Honolulu are calling for northeast winds around 25 mph to 35 mph with localized gusts near 50 mph for areas in North, East and South Hawaii. The strongest winds will be focused in leeward areas of Kohala, the Waimea-Kawaihae Corridor and near South Point.
The advisory noted the following areas: South Point, Pahala, Hilo, Volcano, Honokaa, Waimea and Waikoloa.
A wind advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 mph or gusts of at least 50 mph are forecast. Motorists are advised to use extra caution.
