Gusty trade winds are forecast to continue through Wednesday morning for areas of North and South Kohala, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

The service, which extended a wind advisory for the areas through 6 a.m. Wednesday, forecast northeast winds around 20 mph to 35 mph with localized gusts topping 50 mph for areas in North and South Kohala.

The affected area spans north from Waikoloa in South Kohala to about the Mahukona area in North Kohala. It also includes the corridor between Waimea and Kawaihae.
