The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high surf advisory for east-facing shores of Hawaii Island until 6 a.m. Friday.
The service forecast waves ranging in height from 5 feet to 8 feet along the east-facing shores of North and East Hawaii Island.
The service categorized the surf’s impact as “moderate,” cautioning of strong breaking waves, shore break and longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials.
