Tavian Taketa did a little bit of everything for Kealakehe, which connected with its bats to get back to .500.
Taketa pitched four strong innings and added three singles at the plate Tuesday as the Waveriders beat Kohala in a Big Island Interscholastic Federation softball game in Kapaau.
Kealakehe (3-3) banged out 15 hits in the five-inning TKO to end a two-game losing streak.
“The girls hit well today and made no errors,” coach Wesley Takimoto said.
Kelina Palmer-Kahananui finished 3 for 3, Leisha Nakagawa ripped two triples with two RBIs and Kaleanani Anakalea-Haleamau was 2 for 3.
Making her second start of the season, Taketa allowed two hits and three runs with four strikeouts before giving way to Kiara Cantiberos, who worked one inning.
Ashlyn Van Zandt took the loss for the Cowgirls (2-4).

Aliesa Kaneshiro tossed a three-hitter as the visiting Vikings remained undefeated.
The Vikings (6-0) compiled 10 hits against Warriors ace Mykala Tokunaga, two apiece by Reisha Hoopii-Haslam, Shalyn Guthier and Moana Pinner.
Kamehameha (3-2) fell into a first-place tie with Konawaena atop Division II.

Lohi Kamakea-Wong pitched a three-inning complete game and the host Cougars (5-1) got contributions from all around their lineup to win at home.
The Trojans fell to 0-3.
Keaau’s next game was to be Saturday at Kealakehe, but the contest has been rescheduled for April 10.
