The earthquake struck at 5:30 p.m. Hawaii time, according to the center. Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat to Hawaii.
The earthquake had a depth of 294.5 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
