“The Land of Eb,” a feature film produced on Hawaii Island, is being released worldwide Tuesday on digital platforms including iTunes and Google Play.
The film is loosely based on Marshallese immigrant Jonithen Jackson, who also plays the lead. “The Land of Eb” premiered at Toronto International Film festival and went on to screen in a number of other festivals in locations including Hawaii, Chicago and Fiji. It will be available through a number of video on demand services later this month.
“It’s been a long road, but we knew we had a story people would connect with and that it would eventually find its audience,” said director Andrew Williamson. “We’ve had numerous requests here in Hawaii and elsewhere to screen the film, especially from educators and social activist groups. It’s having a positive impact in our community way beyond what we originally imagined.”
The DVD, which includes extra content about the making of the film, will also be available for purchase at thelandofeb.com.
