Dinner cabaret benefits Kona Festivale Chorale

Kona Festivale Chorale is presenting the 16th annual Swing Into Spring Dinner Cabaret at 6 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Kamakahonu Ballroom of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

This is a pledge drive that supports Kona Festivale Chorale’s annual concert season of events. Kona Festivale Chorale is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization founded in 1988.

Hosted by actor and director Dick Herschberger, the event includes a buffet dinner, music by Magic Strings trio, a live cabaret show, and an opportunity to score unique gifts in a drawing.

Under the direction of Carson Wilcox and Roberta King, the cabaret show features the Gloryland and Celebration Singers in an eclectic program, titled “Songs In the Key of Love.” The featured members include Jo-Anna Boshard, Jamsie Herbert, Kalehua Meheula, Misty Mistler, Yolanda Olson, Kathy Roseler, “Red” Johnson, Jerry Kleinert, and Carson Wilcox, with K. F. Chorale studio musicians under the direction of Roberta King.

Selections will include: “Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me” (Duke Ellington); “Where Or When” (Richard Rogers); “As Time Goes By” (Herman Hupfeld); “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” (Jerome Kern); “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home” (Hughie Cannon); “It Only Takes a Moment” (Jerry Herman); “If I Loved You” (Richard Rogers); as well as “Alfie” and “This Girl’s In Love” (Burt Bacharach).

Also appearing will be the dinner music of Magic Strings, whose members include Ursula Vietze, Madeline Schatz, and Julie Salis.

Herschberger, recognized for roles he’s played in Aloha Performing Arts Company productions, will also emcee the festivities.

Tickets cost $65 per person and tables of 10 are discounted 10 percent. The ticket price includes a dinner buffet, the drawing, cabaret, tax and gratuity. Patrons may procure reservations by calling 331-1115. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. All sales are final.
