Kapolei defeated the Vikings 3-0 on Wednesday in a boys Division I game at Oahu’s Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.
The Vikings (10-5-1), the Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up, play Pearl City (11-3) at 1 p.m. today in a consolation elimination match.
CJ Harvey scored goals at the 12th and 33rd minute marks for the Hurricanes (13-3), the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s No. 4 team. Marcelo Dadino added Kapolei’s other score at the 18th minute mark.
Hilo was the only team, among the opening day’s eight, to be shutout. They also lost by the widest margin.
Three-time BIIF champion Kealakehe (14-0-1) plays Kamehameha-Maui (10-0-3) in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. today at the main stadium field. The Warriors bested Mililani 2-0 in the first round.
In today’s Division II quarterfinals, No. 2 seed and BIIF champion Hawaii Preparatory Academy (10-3-3) plays Leilehua (5-7) at 1 p.m.; Christian Liberty (11-4) faces No. 4 Roosevelt (7-5) at 3 p.m.; and Honokaa (9-3-3) takes on No. 1 Kapaa (11-1) at 3 p.m.
Kapaa is the defending state champion. Honokaa won the title the previous two years.
