Monica Chong
Monica “Monie” Mahealani Chong, 52, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 2, 2014, at her residence. Born Aug. 31, 1961, in Kealakekua, she was the site coordinator for Kealakehe Elementary School A+ Program and member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Kaloko Congregation.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 8 at OTEC. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
She is survived by husband, Angus Chong Jr. of Kailua-Kona; sons, Angus (Tiare) Chong III and Jacob Duarte, both of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Lehua (Hua Peters) Chong, Maxine (Manuel Lemus) Chong, Jerelyn Chong and Sienna Chong, both of Kailua-Kona; mother, Harriette Wentworth of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Bernadine Nastor and Pili (Kalehua) Perry, both of Kailua-Kona, Decemberine Mukini of Ocean View, Tammy (Warren) Cho of Hookena; Kanani (Jesse) Minamishin of Kealakekua; brothers, Moses Wentworth III and John Wentworth, both of Kailua-Kona; five grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph Goold
Joseph Charles Goold, 56, of Kailua-Kona and Bora Bora, died Jan. 17, 2014, at the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris. Born Dec. 19, 1957, in California, he was a deck hand and boat captain in Kona for many years.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club at Honokohau Harbor for a celebration of life.
He is survived by sons, John Goold and Hanalei Goold, both of Bora Bora; daughter, Moeata Goold, of Bora Bora; father, Robert Goold of Kona; sisters Cheri (Jack) Mandaquit and Sue (Ernest) Fronda, both of Kona; brothers, Steve (Linda) Goold of California, Craig (Erina) Goold of Bora Bora; Kelly (Leona) Goold of Waimea; Bruce (Maile) Goold of Nevada; two grandchildren.
Richard Omija Jr.
Richard “Richie Boy” Tsuneki Omija Jr., 58, of Honaunau died Jan. 26, 2014, at his residence. Born Nov. 30, 1955, in Pahala, he was a retired construction inspector and former road supervisor for Hawaii County.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 at Naalehu Community Center for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, LuciAnn Omija of Honaunau; daughters, Rikki Omija and Rachel Omija, both of Honaunau; son, Robert Omija of Honaunau; parents, Richard and Thelma Omija of Waiohinu; brother, Michael Omija of Waiohinu; sister, Katie (Loyd) Hokama of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

William Wright
William “Bill” Alexander Wright, 63, of Kealakekua died Jan. 28, 2014, at his residence. Born Feb. 18, 1950, in Natchez, Miss., he was an artist, a carver of gourds and owner of Ipu Hale Gallery.
Services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Kona.
He is survived by wife, Colleen Wright of Kealakekua; brother, Terry Wright of San Clemente, Calif; one niece.

Adeline Cain-Hricik
Adeline “Addie” Cain-Hricik, 86, of Waimea died Feb. 2, 2014, at her residence. Born Dec. 25, 1927, in Makawao, Maui, she was a retired bartender.

She is survived by daughters, Genevieve (Daniel) Meyer of Gardena, Calif., Irmagene (Isaac) Kaohe of Makaha, Oahu, Imagene (Norman) Gonsalves of Kapaa, Kauai, Sharon (Lorna Perez) Cain of Waimea; sons, Robert Ketterman of Concordia, Kan., Patrick Cain of Fern Acres; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Peter Petersen Sr
Peter Petersen Sr., 83, of Hilo died Jan. 29, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 24, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y., he retired as a Navy chief petty officer and as a supply officer for the Department of Defense.
He is survived by sons, Jason (Anna) Petersen of Alaska, Peter Petersen Jr. of Hilo; daughters, Susan (Andy) Encabo and Cathlene (James) Reinold, both of Alaska, Joana Petersen of the Philippines; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Toshiyuki Takaki
Toshiyuki Takaki, 97, of Naalehu died Jan. 13, 2014, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Naalehu, he was a retired construction supervisor for the former Hutchinson Sugar Co. and member of Naalehu Hongwanji Mission.
Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.
He is survived by wife, Sumiye Takaki of Naalehu; son, Vernon Takaki of Naalehu; daughter, Janice Ogi of Naalehu; sister, Mildred Takaki of Los Angeles; numerous nieces and nephews.

Timothy James Lee, 55, of Volcano died Jan. 24, 2014, at home. Born in Minneapolis, he was a landscaper and owner of Aloha Aina Landscaping Service.

Matthew Mulvihill
Matthew E. Mulvihill, 52, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 1, 2014. Born April 16, 1961, in San Francisco, he worked as an orthotic, prosthetic fitter and technician and owned a company providing custom leather goods, marine and furniture upholstery.

He is survived by a wife and daughter of Kailua-Kona.

James Nakao
James Yoshiaki Nakao, 84, of Honokaa died Jan. 29, 2014, at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Feb. 18, 1929, in Kapulena, he was a retired welder.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 13 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial of cremated remains follows at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Mitsue Yamamoto
Mitsue Yamamoto, 92, of Hilo, formerly of Lahaina, Maui, died Jan. 29, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. She was a housekeeper for the Sheraton Maui and member of Hawaii County Nutritional Center and Lahaina Methodist Church.

Arline Ellen Rood, 82, of Hilo died Feb. 5, 2014, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born Aug. 17, 1931, in Fresno, Calif., she was a housewife and member of the Waiakea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Waiakea Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2629 Kilauea Ave., for a 3 p.m. service.
