Anthony Bernard Elia, 64, of Hilo died Jan. 5, 2014, at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired maintenance worker with the state Department of Transportation, Airports Division and member of the Keaukaha Pale Kai Canoe Ohana.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. Jan. 13 at Haili Church for a 6 p.m. service. Private scattering of ashes will be held at a later date. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by daughters, Toni-lynn (Steve) Elia-Mendiola of Las Vegas, Marlene (Brysen) Loo of Honokaa, Kimberly Elia of Anchorage, Alaska, Nani Elia of Kaneohe, Oahu; hanai daughter, Elia Pinto of Portland, Ore.; brothers, David (Diana) Elia and Louis (Raphaela) Elia, both of Hilo, Henry (Sugi) Elia of Lacey, Wash.; sister, Marjorie Elia of Hilo; hanai sisters, Minnie Rose Lindsey of Anson, Texas, Yvonne (Albert) Kahoonei of Texas; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lerbbie “Lerb” Alfred Akana, 60, of Hilo died Dec. 30, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 6, 1953, in Hilo he was a retiredArmy captain, project manager for Leleiwi Electric and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and IBEW Local 142.

Susumu Tamura
Susumu Tamura, 82, of Hilo died Jan, 2, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 25, 1931, in Pahoa, he was retired from the former Puna Sugar Co. as a heavy equipment operator.

Myrtle Beamer
Myrtle Kauinohea Beamer, 88, of Waimea died Dec. 8, 2013, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born April 28, 1925, in Honolulu, she was a kumu hula.

Felicitas Kabei
Felicitas “Fely” Abadilla Kabei, 69, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 26, 2013, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Jan. 13, 1944, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a janitor for the Department of Transportation at Kona International Airport; a high school teacher in the Philippines; a housekeeper at the Islander Inn, the former Kona Surf and Keauhou Beach hotels and Mauna Lani Beach Resort; and member of the Ilocano Ancestry Club, Filipino of West Hawaii Kona and an ILWU organizer.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 18 at Central Kona Union Church in Kealakekua for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

Alfredo Mamac, 80, of Honalo died Dec. 31, 2013, at his residence. Born March 3, 1933, in Onomea, he was a mason for Isemoto Construction Co. and member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Mixed League and Mixed Nuts Bowling League and Kona Horseshoe Pitching Club.

Clara Peggy Zeidlhack-Keanini, 87, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 25, 2013. Born Dec. 5, 1926, in Oklahoma, she was a retired nurse.
