Suicide prevention group to meet
The Kona Suicide Prevention Task Force meets from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the West Hawaii Community Health Center conference room at 75-5751 Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Energy lecture series begins Wednesday
Friends of Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority will host the first in a series of lectures about energy at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the NELHA Gateway Visitor Center. Robert D. Harris, director of the Sierra Club’s Hawaii Chapter, will present “Electricity: Generation, Transmission, Distributed Generation, Smart Grid/Micro Grid,” which includes case studies on maximum photovoltaic penetration on grids in other locations.
The Exceptional Energy Lecture Series consists of five lectures on energy issues. The series is sponsored in part by the Hawaii Energy Resource Center, a component of the Hawaii County Department of Research and Development.

Talk on eradicating coffee borer planned
The public is invited to learn how it can safely eradicate coffee berry borer without pesticides during a free presentation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the Holualoa Elementary School cafeteria.
The speaker is Harry Arakaki, a biochemist and president of the Organa Agriculture Hawaii. He will explain how to have healthy trees with no pests and how to use beneficial active micro organisms.
