Marcelina Acorda
Marcelina “Inang” Cadiz Acorda, 87, of Honokaa died Dec. 27, 2013, at home. Born June 2, 1926, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a homemaker, vegetable farmer and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. Jan. 5 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 6 p.m. rosary. Friends may call again at 8 a.m. Jan. 6 at the church for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will be at Honokaa Catholic Cemetary. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by daughters, Lapaz Altura and Norma Failano, both of Honokaa, Fely (Joseph) Torres of Waimea, Fraxie Simeon of Keaau, Leticia (Charles) Mathieu of Hilo, Teresa (Jereme) Weems of California; sons, Felimon (Janet) Acorda of Kailua-Kona, Peter (Yolanda) Acorda of California, John (Ester) Acorda of Paauilo; sisters, Eufrosenia Cadiz DelaCruz, Anastacia Cadiz Dayrit, Agustina Cadiz Acosta and Lilia Cadiente, all of the Phillippines, Visanta (Silverio) Macuray of Honokaa, Ofelia (Fred) Manibog and Mayrose Cadiz, both of Kauai; brother, Manuel (Rosita) Cadiente of Philippines; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Fumiko Arakaki
Fumiko “Dorothy” Arakaki, 87, of Hilo died Dec. 31, 2013, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born Aug. 4, 1926, in Holualoa, she was retired from the former Hilo Hospital as a licensed practical nurse and member of Hilo Hooganji Mission and Haili Kumiai.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by son, Carl (Joyce) Arakaki of Hilo; daughter, Lynette (Newton) Egusa of Hilo; brothers, Tadashi (Katherine) Ogi and Paul Ogi, both of Honolulu; sister, Clara Takata of Kohala; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Brenda Mary Rice, 70, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 24, 2013, at her home. Born March 12, 1943, in Dublin, she was retired from a career in the restaurant business and a homemaker.

Kelvin “Kel” Shizuo Kaneshiro, 57, of Hilo died Dec. 21, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was an automotive mechanic and tow truck operator.
