Artists plan gathering at Waimea Town Market

The third annual “Gathering of Artists” will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Waimea Town Market on the grounds of Parker School.

Included in this outdoor exhibition and sale will be some of Hawaii Island’s best-known artists including Mary Koski and Kathy Long, pastels; Charlotte Nairn, oils and monotypes; Pam Hons, landscape oils; Joan Namkoong, handmade silk scarves and textiles; Ski Kwiatkowski and Mel Hewitt, rare woodwork, carvings and traditional weaponry; Bonnie Cherni, paper art and origami; Hugh Jenkins and Stephanie Ross, blown glass; and Heiki Winkler, photography.

Also, a capella singers of the Waimea Consort will stroll the market and sing carols.

‘Falstaff’ shown Friday at Makalapua Cinema

Verdi’s final comic masterpiece “Falstaff” will be shown at 1 p.m. Friday and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Makalapua Cinema. The Metropolitan Opera “Live in HD” series is presented by Regal Cinemas and Hoku Concert Series.
